The share of land exiting CRP going into some form of crop production was corrected to 79 percent, and the share going into tree cover to 6 percent. The amount of land exiting general land that went to annual crops was changed to 56 percent, and land exiting continuous land that went to perennial specialty crops was corrected to 10 percent. The amount of tree-practice land that was the least likely to transition to some type of crop production (annual, specialty, or perennial forage crop use) after it exited the CRP was corrected to 18 percent. Lastly, the acreages shown in figure 7 were updated to correct an undercounting of roughly 188 acres of land that exited CRP over the study period. Data shown in table 1, appendix table 2, and appendix table 3 were also revised.

The original chart reported the share of all conservation payments received by each farm type, and not the share of CRP payments. Revised net farm income estimates impact all “subject” and “filter” selections for average and median net farm income, 2012-17. Estimates of U.S. average net farm income, for example, are revised downward by -4.5 to -8.8 percent across the 6 years, lowering these estimates by $1,858 to $4,409. The error was restricted to the underlying calculation of the net farm income variable alone; no other data values were affected within the income statement. However, net farm income is a component in the calculation of a subset of financial ratios also found in the tailored reports. Thus, the reported rate of return on assets, rate of return on equity, operating profit margin, and term debt coverage ratio estimates for 2012-17 are revised as well.

168 9/13/2016 Publication EIB-138 On September 13, 2016, ERS revised the categorization of households with members categorically eligible for WIC to exclude households where the only categorically eligible member was a child age 5. These children were incorrectly included previously; imputed income measures were also used as these measures became available since the report’s release; revised survey weights were also used to update all estimates in the report. Because of these changes, all of the estimates in the report have been revised. However, the results were not numerically or substantively different after these revisions were made, with one exception— the result that WIC participants were more likely to use supercenters as their primary store was no longer statistically significant. The text has been adjusted to reflect all of these changes.

The results from EIB-138 were used in three ERS Charts of Note dated March 23, 2015; July 15, 2015; and August 11, 2015; and an Amber Waves feature article “Most U.S. Households Do Their Main Grocery Shopping at Supermarkets and Supercenters Regardless of Income,” dated August 3, 2015. For all but the August 11, 2015, Chart of Note, changes in estimates were not numerically or substantively different. In the August 11, 2015, Chart of Note, the difference between WIC participants’ and nonparticipants’ choice of supercenters as their primary stores was no longer statistically significant.

Oats was the only commodity affected by this error.

117 4/8/2015 Food Dollar Series Data Product N/A On April 8, 2015, ERS’s 2013 updates to nominal tables 1 to 6 in the Food Dollar Series, released on March 31, were revised to correct a coding error caused by a single line of code that reversed the sorting order of industry group value added data. While most corrections throughout the six updated tables are minor, two numbers across all six tables have revisions that are substantial: 1) the output tax share of the food dollar was revised down 3.8 cents, distributed mostly across farm production and food retailing industry groups, and 2) total retail trade value added was revised down 1.8 cents, mostly due to the output tax problem.

The correct quarterly 2015 per capita egg consumption estimates are 65.0, 65.7, 65.9, and 67.5. The correct 2015 per capita egg consumption estimate is 264.1 eggs.

114 3/18/2015 Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook: March 2015 Publication LDPM-249 On March 17, the fourth quarter 2014 and total 2014 commercial beef production estimates reported in the Red Meat Forecast table of the March 2015 Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook were corrected. The correct fourth quarter 2014 production number is 6,023 million lb, and the correct 2014 total beef production is 24,252 million lb.
