Overview
Evaluating India's agricultural performance since 1980 suggests that productivity growth has diffused away from the northern grain belt, led by accelerated horticulture and animal products. ERS researchers identify several policies propelling India's agricultural productivity, namely public and private agricultural research, irrigation infrastructure, and higher levels of public education.
