U.S. fruit imports gaining in share of domestic consumption

Imports continue to become more important in domestic fruit consumption, especially in the fresh canned, and juice markets. Fresh and canned fruit as well as fruit juice are the most dependent on imports to meet domestic demand in recent years. Presently, nearly half of fresh fruit, two-fifths of canned fruit, and about one-third of fruit juice consumed in the United States are from imports.
