Just 60 percent of primary eating and drinking time is spent at home
Responses from time use surveys reveal that on an average day in 2006-08, Americans age 15 and older spent 67 minutes eating and drinking as a primary or main activity. Fifty-nine percent, or 40 minutes, of primary eating/drinking time took place in the individual's home or yard and 20 percent (13 minutes) in a restaurant or bar, followed by 7 minutes of primary eating or drinking occurring at workplaces.
