Job growth 2010-11 varies across U.S. counties

A map of the U.S. showing job growth by county, between 2010 and 2011.

The annual rate of job growth between second-quarter 2010 and second-quarter 2011 was less than half of a percent, with little difference between metro and nonmetro areas; this growth offset only a small fraction of the employment decline of the previous 2 years and was not enough to keep up with adult population growth. This map is from the 2011 edition of Rural America At A Glance, EIB-85, September 2011.
