USDA, Economic Research Service groups its nine Farm Resource Regions according to geographical commodity specializations

U.S. map divided into nine Farm Resource Regions: Northern Great Plains, Heartland, Eastern Uplands, Northern Crescent, Fruitful Rim, Southern Seaboard, Basin and Range, Prairie Gateway, and Mississippi Portal.

Using Agricultural Resource Management Survey data from 2011 to 2021, USDA, Economic Research Service researchers found conservation tillage systems were adopted on cash- and share-rented fields as often as on owner-operated farmland. When it came to planting cover crops, however, the analysis was mixed.
