U.S. organic agricultural sales increased in most regions from 2012 to 2021 and shares of sales shifted among regions

Price premiums, along with consumer demand, have driven an expansion in U.S. organic production. As a result, total certified organic U.S. acreage increased to 4.9 million in 2021, up from 1.8 million in 2000.
