Total organic farm acreage has trended up since 2000, primarily driven by cropland

Price premiums, along with consumer demand, have driven an expansion in U.S. organic production. As a result, total certified organic U.S. acreage increased to 4.9 million in 2021, up from 1.8 million in 2000.
