The figure plots U.S. litter rates for the December to February pig crops for 2000-2016. Litter rates in 2000 were 8.76 pigs per litter, rising to 10.3 pigs per litter in 2016. The slope of the line is positive, except for the 2014 observation which declined to 9.53 due to disease problems.
