The 2014 Farm Act largely retains the existing system of research, extension, and education that supports projects at Land Grant institutions and Federal intramural research facilities. The Act does make some adjustments to research funding, some of which are intended to encourage investment of new resources into the public agricultural research system. Although the productivity growth of U.S. agriculture is strongly linked with public investment in research PDF icon (16x16), growth in public agricultural research and development has been sluggish relative to that of the private sector.
