Tej Rai is an agricultural economist in the Food Assistance Branch, Food Economics Division.
Before joining the Economic Research Service in 2020, Tej worked as a budget analyst under the budget staff office of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA, for budget execution. Tej served 4 years in the United States Army. Tej also worked as a customs inspector in the Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance, Nepal. He taught as a higher secondary level economics teacher for a year at Vishwa Niketan Higher Secondary School. Tej is originally from Nepal and moved permanently to the United States in 2014.
