Ryan Olver is a research agricultural economist in the Structure, Technology, and Productivity Branch of the Resource and Rural Economics Division (RRED) of USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS).
Ryan joined ERS in October of 2021; he also worked for 3 summers as a research trainee in RRED. His research interest is the production of specialty crops, particularly their relationship with pesticide usage and the development of their supply chains.
Ryan holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from University of California, Berkeley—specializing in Agriculture. He also holds two B.A.s—one in Political Science and one in History, a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy, and a minor in the Chinese language—all from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Ryan is a member of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA).
