Quinton Baker is a research agricultural economist in the Food Markets Branch of the Food Economics Division. His primary research interests are in public policy, U.S. food assistance programs, labor economics, and food marketing.
Quinton joined ERS in January 2021 upon completion of his doctorate from Michigan State University. In his dissertation, he studied the work requirement for able-bodied adults without dependents for participating in USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). He also examined whether program participation and labor market participation varied across States with respect to joint decisions of State SNAP policy options and Medicaid expansion.
