Monte Vandeveer is a Research Economist with the Animal Products and Cost of Production Branch.
Monte Vandeveer grew up on a farm in south central Kansas, and he studied agricultural economics at Kansas State University for his B.S. and M.S. degrees. He received a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in 1990. He has worked in university Extension for Kansas State University and the University of Nebraska, with a focus on farm management topics, and he also worked in Hanoi, Vietnam, for three years with a nonprofit organization. Monte also spent several years with the Economic Research Service (ERS) after returning from Vietnam, with a focus on crop insurance and livestock market outlook. His current duties at ERS are with the Cost of Production Estimates team.
