Briefly

Lorraine Mitchell is an Agricultural Economist in the International Trade and Development branch of ERS’s Market and Trade Economics Division. Her research focuses on international agricultural trade, including trade with the European Union, regional trade agreements, and trade issues stemming from consumer demand.

 

Background

Lorraine Mitchell joined ERS in 1998.  She was on the ERS team (including Shawn Arita, Jayson Beckman, and Mary Burfisher) that received the American Agricultural Economics Association Quality of Communication – Honorable Mention award in 2016.

 

Education

Lorraine received her Ph.D. in economics in 1998 from the University of California-Berkeley. She received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University in 1989.
