Greg Pompelli is Associate Administrator at USDA’s Economic Research Service. He had recently served as Acting Associate Administrator and had been Associate Director of the Agency’s Market and Trade Economics Division (MTED). That division conducts economic research and analysis on U.S. and global economic and policy factors that influence the structure and performance of agricultural markets and trade.
Greg’s tenure at ERS has included heading several branches within MTED and serving as the division's Acting Deputy Director for Market Analysis and Outlook. He also led the Geo-Spatial Economic Analysis (GSEA) Team in the ERS Administrator's Office. Before joining ERS, Greg was an associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Tennessee, an economic analyst with Sunkist Growers, Inc., and a loan officer with the Sacramento Bank for Cooperatives.
Greg received a Ph.D. and an M.S. from the University of California-Davis and a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University.
