Description

USDA’s Economic Research Service added two new capabilities to the Food Access Research Atlas (FARA):

  • The SNAP Authorized Retailer Access Map (SRAM), a newly developed mapping application showing accessibility to SNAP‑authorized retailers, and
  • Network‑Based Driving Distance measures, which illustrate accessibility using actual road networks rather than straight‑line measures.

In this webinar, ERS Economist Alana Rhone provides an overview of these and many more FARA updates and shows how the measures can help highlight neighborhoods where income, distance and transportation barriers may limit local access to food retailers.
