For the dairy product categories, there are finer breakouts for most items, and in cases where dairy products are used as ingredients in other dairy products, these uses are itemized. Digits 5 through 10 are for these purposes. Finer subcategories are not provided for butter, nonfrozen yogurt, and sour cream.
	
There is correspondence of data-item numbers among tables. For example, in all tables, the code for butter ends in 3.04.00. For data_item id is 1-3.04.00 for butter product volume, 2-3.04.00 for milk fat in butter, 4-3.04.00 for milk fat in butter as a percent of total U.S. supply of milk fat, and 6-3.04.00 for milk-fat content of butter. A query of the using these ID numbers for 2024 would show that butter product volume that year was 2,236 million pounds, the milk fat in butter contained 1,799.7 million pounds of butterfat, accounting for 18.7 percent of the total U.S. supply of milk fat. The butterfat content of butter was assumed to be 80.5 percent.
