Jean C. Buzby
Jean C. Buzby is Chief of the Diet, Safety, and Health Economics Branch in ERS's Food Economics Division.
Jean has worked either directly or indirectly for ERS for 20 years. Her primary area of work at ERS is food safety research. Within this area, her research has included estimating the costs of foodborne illness, analyzing the legal incentives for firms to produce safer food, and exploring international trade and food safety issues. Current research topics include food loss, food and food packaging applications of nanotechnology, and food import refusals.
Jean received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kentucky. She received a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University.
