This data set provides monthly, quarterly, and annual data concerning
livestock inventories, production, and productivity for the former Soviet
Republics, focusing on the period from 1991 to 1995.
Information on both inventories and productivity for all types of farms
(state and private) is available on an annual basis for the total former
Soviet Union (FSU) and separately for each of its 15 republics [ file:
allfsu.wk1 ].
Similar information is available for state farms only on a quarterly
(inventories) and monthly (production) basis for all republics except the
three Baltic States and Georgia [files: ***stmin and ***stmpr, where ***
are the first letters of the republic name].
Some additional information is available on three major republics of the
former Soviet Union:
- For Russia, information on state and private farms is provided
separately on an annual basis [ file: rusbyear].
- Monthly data on inventories is provided for Russia for all farms (state
and private combined together) [file: rusafmin], and for Russia, Ukraine,
and Kazakhstan for private holdings and farms [files: ***phmin].
Information on annual animal productivity for all-farm average and for
state farms alone is available for Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, and Estonia-
[file: prodivt].
