Russian Commodity Prices:  Retail and Wholesale

This data set contains 9 files which are divided into two types:  RETAIL 
and WHOLESALE.

The seven RETAIL files contain data on average monthly commodity prices in 
organized retail trade (state stores) and in city free markets, in 
selected Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Krasnodar, 
Vladivostok).  These prices are given both in ruble and dollar terms from 
1992 through 1994.

BEEF.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices of
beef in rubles and dollars per kilogram.

BREAD.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices of
bread in rubles and dollars per kilogram.

BUTTER.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices
of butter in rubles and dollars per kilogram.

EGGS.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices of
eggs in rubles and dollars per 10 units.

MILK.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices of
milk in rubles and dollars per liter.

POTATOES.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices
of potatoes in rubles and dollars per kilogram. 


VEGOIL.WK1 file contains two tables on average monthly prices
of vegetable oil in rubles and dollars per liter.

The two WHOLESALE files contain data on average monthly
wholesale prices for selected agriculture commodities (sugar,
flour, wheat) and for energy product (crude oil, gasoline, diesel
fuel, fuel oil) in the Russian Federation.  Prices are given in
ruble and in dollar term for 1993 and 1994.

COMMOD93.WK1 contain two tables on 1993 average monthly
wholesale prices, both in rubles and dollars per ton.

COMMOD94.WK1 contain two tables on 1994 average monthly
wholesale prices, both in rubles and dollars per ton.

The primary sources for the information in these tables are Kommersant,
a weekly Russian business magazine, and Interfax: Food and Agricultural 
Report.
