Agricultural Statistics of the Former USSR Countries and the Baltic States

The primary source materials are the official annual statistical
yearbooks form the State Statistical Committees of each of the 15
countries, statistical yearbooks from the Statistical Committee CIS,
and the USSR annual statistical yearbooks.

Throughout the tables, "na" indicates that data are not available,
and "--" indicates either a number is negligible or that the data
do not pertain to that country.

LAND USE AND FARM STRUCTURE
Tables on agricultural statistics of land use and farm structure for each 
of the former USSR countries and the Baltic States:  Russian Federation, 
Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, 
Moldova, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Estonia, 
as well as for the aggregate former USSR.

LANDUSE.WK1 file contain data on total area; total agricultural
land; total arable land; plow lands; total sown area; total grain
area; industrial crops area (sunflowers, cotton, oilseeds,
sugar beets, and flax); potatoes, vegetables, and melons area; feed
crops area; fallow; orchards and gardens; vineyards; permanent
meadow; and permanent pasture. Lithuania data cover the years 1980
through 1992, Estonia data cover the years 1980 through 1991. All
other countries' level data cover the years 1980 through 1995. 
Aggregate former USSR data cover 1960 through 1990. 

FARMS.WK1 file contains data on the number of State farms,
collective farms, and private farms: their total area and average
size.  Georgia data cover the years 1980 through 1990, and Estonia
and Lithuania data cover the years 1980 through 1991. Latvia data 
cover the years 1980 through 1992. All other countries' level data
cover the years 1980 through 1995. Aggregate USSR data cover 1960
through 1993. 

GRAINS
Tables on area, yield, production, and procurement of selected grains 
(wheat, barley, rye, oats, millet, corn, buckwheat, rice, and pulses) for 
each of the former USSR countries and the Baltic States:  Russian 
Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, 
Lithuania, Moldova, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, 
Estonia, as well as for the aggregate former USSR.

FSUC&B.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight and cleanweight for the aggregate 
former USSR, 1955-91.

RUSSBUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for the Russian Federation,
1960-89.

UKRABUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for Ukraine, 1960-89.

BELABUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for Belarus, 1960-89.

UZBEBUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for Uzbekistan, 1960-89.

KAZABUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for Kazakstan, 1960-89.

GEORBUNK.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight for Georgia, 1960-89.

1981-95.

ARMENC&B.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight and cleanweight for Armenia,
1981-95.

TURKMC&B.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight and cleanweight for Turkmenistan,
1981-95.

ESTONC&B.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected grains in bunkerweight and cleanweight for Estonia,
1981-92.

GRAINPRO.WK1 file contains data on State procurement of selected
grains.  Georgia, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan data cover the years
1965 through 1994. Latvia and Lithuania data cover the years 1965
through 1992, and Estonia data cover 1965 through 1991.  All other
countries' data cover the years 1965 through 1995.  Aggregate
former USSR data cover 1965 to 1991.

LIVESTOCK SECTOR
Tables on livestock inventories, production of livestock products, and 
procurement of livestock products for each of the former USSR countries 
and the Baltic States: Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, 
Kazakstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Moldova, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, 
Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Estonia, as well as for the aggregate 
former USSR.

LVINVENT.WK1 file contains data on livestock inventories: cattle
(including cows), hogs, sheep and goats, horses, poultry, and total
animal units.  All countries level data cover the years 1980
through 1995.  Aggregate former USSR data cover 1950 through 1992.

LVPROD.WK1 file contains data on production of livestock products:
meat (including beef and veal; pork; mutton, lamb, and goat;
poultry; and other), milk, wool, and eggs.  All countries ' level
data cover the years 1980 through 1995.  Aggregate former USSR data
cover 1950 through 1995.

LVPROC.WK1 file contains data on State procurement of livestock
products: livestock and poultry in liveweight and carcass weight,
milk and dairy products, wool, and eggs.  Estonia data cover the
years 1980 through 1991. Latvia and Lithuania data covers the years 
1980 through 1992. All other countries' level data cover the years
1980 through 1994 or 1995.  Aggregate former USSR data cover 1965
through 1991.

SELECTED CROPS
Tables on area, yield, production, and procurement of selected crops for 
each of the former USSR countries and the Baltic States: Russian 
Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, 
Lithuania, Moldova, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, 
Estonia, as well as for the aggregate former USSR.

CROPAYP.WK1 file contains data on area, yield, and production of
selected crops: seed cotton, sugar beets, sunflowerseeds, fiber flax,
potatoes, vegetables, fruits and berries, grapes, and tobacco.
Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia data covers the years 1980 through
1992.  All other countries' level data cover the years 1980 through
1995.  Aggregate former USSR data cover 1950 through 1991.

CROPPROC.WK1 file contains data on State procurement of selected
crops: seed cotton, sugar beets, sunflowerseeds, fiber flax,
potatoes, vegetables, fruits and berries, grapes, and tobacco. 
Russian Federation and Ukraine data covers the years 1980 through
1995, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia data cover 1980 through 1991 or
1992.  All other countries' level data cover the years 1980 through
1994.  Aggregate former USSR data cover 1960 through 1991.

FOOD CONSUMPTION
Tables on annual per capita consumption of selected food products for each 
of the former USSR countries and the Baltic States:  Russian Federation, 
Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, 
Moldova, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Estonia, 
as well as for the aggregate former USSR.

CONSUMP.WK1 file contains data on annual per capita consumption of
selected food products: meat and meat products; fish and fish
products; milk and dairy products; eggs; sugar; vegetable oil;
potatoes; cereal products; vegetables and melons; and fruits and
berries. Latvia and Lithuania data cover the years 1970 through
1992, and Estonia data cover the years 1980 through 1993.  All
other countries' level data cover the years from 1970 through 1995. 
Aggregate former USSR data cover selected years from 1950 through
1990.
