                FARM EMPLOYMENT AND WAGE RATES 1910-1990

These diskettes contain the statistics published in FARM EMPLOYMENT AND WAGE
RATES 1910-1990.  National Agricultural Statistics Service, Estimates Division,
U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Statistical Bulletin No. 822 (March 1991).
Files on these diskettes are in the form of Lotus 1-2-3 (Release 2) worksheets
(.WK1).  The following directory matches these files to the tables in the 
bulletin.

An additional file on Disk 1, FRMLABOR.TXT, contains a brief history of the
farm employment and wage estimates program, background on the survey design 
and methods used to make the estimates, and a discussion of the reliability
of the estimates and limitations of the data.

From 1974 through 1981, regions consisted of the following States:

      Region IV    AL, FL, GA, KY, MS, NC, SC, TN, 
      Region V     IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI
      Region VI    AR, LA, NM, OK, TX
      Region VII   IA, KS, MO, NE, 
      Region VIII  CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, WY
      Region IX    AZ, CA, NV  (and HI starting July 1978)
      Region X     ID, OR, WA

For July 1982, July 1983, July 1984, and October 1984 regions were made up of
the following States.  Region totals include data for States not listed
separately.

Regions consisted of the following States starting in 1985.  NOTE:  Data for
1980-84 were also presented for these regions to assist in bridging between
data series.  State estimates were published for California, Florida, and
Hawaii.

1988 were comprised of the following States:

      48 States:  All States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.
