Livestock production is scattered across the country

The five leading States for the sales value of livestock and their products are Texas, California, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska. The cattle sector is the dominant source of value in Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska. Dairy accounts for about 60 percent of livestock-sales value in California. Both the hog and cattle sectors are large sources of sales value in Iowa. Georgia is the leading poultry-producing State, followed by North Carolina.
