Diet Quality and Food Consumption: Food Consumption and Nutrient Intake Tables

Food Consumption

Table 3 compares reported consumption in 1994-96 with Pyramid recommendations. On average, individuals did not meet the recommendation for any of the five food groups. Vegetable consumption was below the recommendation by 11 percent, and consumption of fruits amounted to only 59 percent of the recommendation.
