Diet and Health: Food Consumption and Nutrient Intake Tables

Nutrient Intake

Table 6 shows the proportion of food energy from different locations over time. During 1977-96, consumers ate out more frequently, especially at fast food establishments and restaurants. During 1994-96, fast food establishments accounted for 11 percent of total food energy intake and restaurants provided 8 percent of total food energy intake, up from 3 percent each in 1977-78.
