Briefly

Olga Liefert is an Economist with the Crops Branch, Market and Trade Economics Division. She is an international analyst for feed grains, whose activities include monitoring and analyzing production, use, and trade throughout the world; attending monthly Interagency Commodity Estimates Committee (ICEC) meetings; writing the international sections of monthly ERS reports on feed grain markets; and contributing to the annual USDA baseline projections. Olga also is a specialist in agriculture in the countries of the former Soviet Union, particularly Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.

Background

Before joining ERS, Olga served as a research economist at the Russian Institute for Economics in Moscow, and then worked for 4 years for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris. She also has been a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome. Prior to joining ERS as regular staff in 2008, Olga worked as a consultant for the agency.
