Long-term agricultural baseline projections (to 2017) include major commodities, trade, farm income, and food prices. Projections assume specific conditions for the economy, weather, global situation, and policy. New projections reflect strong biofuel demand.

Food Price Outlook for 2008

How much can we expect food prices to rise? Each month, ERS updates its forecasts on changes in the Consumer Price Index for food. Latest forecast: a rise of 3-4 percent for all food in 2008.

2008 Farm Income Forecast

Initial forecast for 2008 shows net farm income and farm operator household income rising. Value of crop production is forecast to exceed 2007 record. ERS provides a comprehensive forecast of earnings and expenses across commodities and regions.
