The ERS 2006 Summer Internship Program

 
2005 Interns

Spend the summer as an Economist, Economics Assistant, Computer Clerk/Assistant, or Information Technology Specialist in Washington, D.C. and put your skills to work in your own field!  Interns at the Economic Research Service (ERS) work on a variety of projects, from assessing the production impacts of direct government payments to farmers, to compiling a global demographics database for use in modeling global food demand, to improving the agency’s internet and intranet websites. 

ERS offers full-time paid summer internship positions primarily in economics and computer/information science:

Pay & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on education and experience through the Federal General Schedule (GS) pay system .
  • Orientation meetings to help you find your way around and a variety of activities throughout your internship to help you network with ERS staff and other interns.
  • Downtown Washington, D.C. location with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation.
  • Subsidized local subway and bus transportation.
  • Use of free on-site fitness center.
  • Eligibility for lifelong membership in the Agriculture Federal Credit Union located on-site, making it easy to open and maintain a checking and/or savings account.
  • Please note:  housing and transportation to/from the D.C. area will not be paid by ERS.

ERS is the main source of economic information and research from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
