Exports
When products are exported, the Shippers’ Export Declaration (SED) lists
a destination for the shipment. There is no way of knowing if this is, in fact,
the final destination for those products. In many cases, products are shipped
into one country and immediately exported to another country (transshipped).
Since ERS estimates the value of exports for a State, however, there is no
way to determine the final destination country for each State's exports.
The U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration provides
information online for the destination country of exports based on the SED.
This information is provided for the North American Industry Classification
System (NAICS) commodity groupings. TradeStatsExpress provides
both national and State-level estimates.
Imports
Although U.S. port of entry data are available for agricultural imports, State-of-destination
data are not available. Consequently, agricultural imports cannot be tracked
to their final destinations by State.
