ERS contributes to shortrun and longrun hog and pork market outlook
activities through several venues.
Working with USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service, Farm Service Agency, and Foreign Agricultural
Service, ERS hog analysts develop monthly estimates of pork supply,
use, and prices reported in World
Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE), released
by USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board. Monthly and quarterly
hog
industry data and hog market outlook are also provided in ERS's
monthly Livestock, Dairy and Poultry
Outlook.
ERS takes a lead
role in preparing USDA's Agricultural Baseline Projections,
which provide longrun swine and pork market outlook (see the Agricultural
Baseline Projections briefing room).
