Detailed Objective: This project develops a set of standardized instruments for the measurement and assessment of community food security at the local level. This project provides support to the Agricultural Research Service's Delta Nutrition Intervention Research Initiative (Delta NIRI) for a field test of a community food security assessment tool kit in Drew County, Arkansas. The menu of instruments in the community food security assessment tool kit will be accompanied by implementation descriptions that will facilitate data collection and analysis at the local level. Survey and focus group instruments from the draft Community Food Security Tool Kit were field tested in Drew County in September 2000 by staff from the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Work will include secondary data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
