Average farm size grows most rapidly in Mountain States


Average farm size in the U.S. has increased fairly steadily over the last century, but growth patterns vary by region and time periods. Snapshots of regional average farm size at five points in time (see "Milestones in U.S. Farming and Farm Policy" in this issue) illustrate a more complex picture of changing farm size in the U.S. than is apparent in national averages.
