Summer Internship Positions 2007

Spend the summer as an Economist, Economics Assistant, IT Specialist, or Computer Clerk/Assistant.

Applications are due by 5 PM March 12, 2007

Economist/Economics Assistant (multiple positions)

During your internship, you will:

  • Conduct economic research, or
  • Assist a senior economist in conducting research.
    Minimum requirement: one course in economics
    Preferred: third or fourth year economics major, or graduate student in economics

Economist/Economics Assistant summer internships will focus on economic research.

IT Specialist: Web (two positions)

During your internship, you will:

  • Develop professional web pages for ERS websites.
  • Assist ERS web professionals in web content management.
  • Manage information collections essential to the agency.
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure the website is meeting user needs.

IT Specialist summer internships will focus specifically on web design and development.

Computer Clerk/Assistant (multiple positions)

During your internship, you will:

  • Perform data management tasks such as data compilation, statistics, and validation of data and computation results.
  • Assist in the implementation of web and internet technologies, website layout, navigation, and design.
    Preferred: Information technology/computer science major with knowledge of MS Office software packages, programming, and statistics.

Computer Clerk/Assistant summer internships will focus on data compilation and internet technologies.

Applicant Qualifications
Candidates must meet all the following criteria:

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Applicants must be planning to continue their education in the next school year.
• Because an internship is an "excepted service appointment," candidates must be citizens of the United States or of a country allied with the United States in a defense treaty agreement or exempted by Congress. For the list of eligible countries and detailed information on Federal employment of noncitizens, see http://www.opm.gov/hr_practitioners/lawsregulations/citizenship/#Nationals. Noncitizens must have either a green card indicating lawful admittance or another form of authorization to be employed (H-1B visa or Employment Authorization Document).

Please note: The internship must be consistent with any stipulations on visas, or on employment authorizations from schools, about the type of employment for which the student is authorized.
